About the event

Join us for our special two-part 50th Anniversary event, “Birthplace and Crossroads of Western New York",  featuring a Talk & Tour at the Holland Land Office Museum (morning or afternoon session) and Speaker Luncheon.

Two Locations:

  • Holland Land Office Museum (HLOM), 131 W Main St, Batavia, NY 14020
  • Terry Hills Banquet Facility, 5122 Clinton Street Rd, Batavia, NY 14020

Ticket price includes the HLOM admission with Talk and Tour at Museum (select morning or afternoon session - seating limits apply); coffee/tea/water and snack, and buffet lunch with speakers at Terry Hills Banquet Facility.

Speaker Profile: Kaitlyn Pauley, a professional genealogist and former teacher, was born and raised in Western New York. Researching her family tree for over 20 years, she has learned her roots run deep in WNY. She is a BYU-I Family History Research program graduate, a FamilySearch Center coordinator, and a member of ProGen 66.  Kaitlyn specializes in New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia research, going beyond basic vital information to highlight ancestors' stories and experiences.

Session 1: "On the Frontier: Early Migration into Western New York"

Explore the wilderness of 1800s Western New York with our early settlers, tracing their footsteps, and discovering the motivations, origins, and routes that led them to the region in search of a better life.

Session 2: "Map It! Exploring Maps and Their Use in Genealogy"

Have you ever thought about using maps in your genealogy research?  This session will discuss how to use five key maps to learn more about your ancestors and where they lived.

2:40 pm Luncheon Closing and Announcement of Door Prize Winners
