"How I Found My Birth Family through Records, DNA, and a Bit of Luck"

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Location: Buffalo History Museum, 1 Museum Ct, Buffalo, NY 14216

The annual Society Business Meeting and Elections begins at 10:00 a.m. It will be immediately followed by the main presentation which will discuss the research strategies and techniques from a 30+ year search for the presenter's birth family. The strategies, while geared toward adoptees, are useful to anyone searching for elusive family members.

About the Speaker: Denise (Muczenski) Oliansky has been doing genealogical research since the early 1990s, first working on her adoptive family (100% Polish) and later searching for her birth family (0% Polish). She is the immediate past president of the Polish Genealogical Society of New York State (PGSNYS) and the current Board secretary. She is also a member of the Board of the Polish American Congress WNY Division, NGS, WNYGS, and the Professional and Business Women of Polonia. Denise is the author of a monthly genealogy column in the Am-Pol Eagle newspaper and editor of the PGSNYS newsletter, Searchers.
